FUN IN 2007

Sunday May the 20th 2007 was the Civil War encampment in Oregon Ohio. A very large crowd came out to find about our countries History. Abraham Lincoln, General U.S. Grant, Mark Twain and Family, the 21st Ohio, General Thomas (Stonewall) Jackson and the boys in Gray were there to talk with the Crowd. Special thanks to the citizens of Carey, Ohio whose 3 inch ordinance riffle (Cannon) was displayed and fired by the 21st.

COLDWATER MICHIGAN MEMORIAL DAY

The Coldwater event started in Quincy with the Village President Karen Hargreave of Quincy Michigan presenting President Lincoln with the Key to the city. Then a departure ceremony from Quincy after which many of the crowd joined the presidential party on the train pulled by a Steam Locomotive for the trip to Coldwater. Many hundreds of people lined the 10 or so miles with almost 300 people on the train. A crowd of hundreds welcomed President Lincoln at the train station. After a welcome by the Mayor Eugene Wallace  the president talked with the crowd from the train and was presented. The presidential party then departed the train and all were treated to a concert by the Dodworth Saxhorn Band. Dinner was served to all the dignitaries at the Wing House, thanks to the Republican Party. The Lincoln's retired to the Chicago Pike Bed and Spa our host for the weekend. Saturday & Sunday a civil war reenactment was held at the Fair Grounds. Monday special Memorial Day services were held.
