This young lady wanted to know more about Sojouner Truth. She had just heard about this famous lady.  Sojouner's name, before she took that name, was Isabella Baumfree the mother of five. She came to the White House on October 29, 1864 to visit the 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. She was a strong voice for womens rights.

Abe,
What a fantastic day we had yesterday at Lincoln Elementary! We all enjoyed your visit so much - from the young Kindergartners to every teacher - you had us all mesmerized! I hope we were able to give you half as much pleasure as you gave us. It is a day we will all remember. I know we will see you again at our school. Thank you so much for making history come alive for us. When I get my other pictures developed I will send the good ones to you. Hopefully we will have a powerpoint presentation soon and I will try to send that to you also.
