Company "A" 4th Michigan
Today July 22nd 2000 would be a special day for the 4th. Weeks of special planning and much hard work, would bring them under new colors for the first time. Abraham Lincoln introduced Gwen Whitaker who then presented the new flag to the 4th.  They are flying it in this picture.

Miss Rebecca shown here with her new hat that was presented to her by Abraham Lincoln on behalf of the 4th Michigan. For fund raising that put her in a very special class. Seems she helped raise lots of much needed money for this special unit. Of course the President had to present her with a special t-shirt with the web address and a picture of this web site.
A special Thank You from president to these two special people and the men and women of the 4th Michigan

The Game of Rounders showed up sometime in the Mid 1800's. It was a gentlemens Game. Abraham Lincoln loved to play and did as often as he could. When they came to tell "Abe" he had been nominated for the office of President he was playing Rounders. Although he knew why they had come, he made them wait untill the game was over, to tell him

Ladies of the players

A Game of Rounders was always a big event.
The women would often spend the time talking and the children playing games.
When of course they were not watching.

This was a real good day for the Great Black Swamp Frogs. At left you see one of the Muffins Talley one of the few times they would score. The Frogs are from Sylvania, Ohio and the Muffins are from Columbus, Ohio and play out of the Ohio Historical Society. Many times when they play the Muffins would be the winner. On this day it would be the Frogs, maybe because the 16th President struck for them, that would be the winner.

While I was spending some time in Ingersoll Canada

I was spending a week end at a time line event. On Saturday
night, the 1812 reenactors asked if they might be able to
enter the Frying Pan Toss. They were told that that
event was for woman only. And that the only people
that could join in were those wearing dresses.
I guess you can guess the rest of the story.
They are all men!!!
