The first Picture above is taken just inside the entrance to
the Cemetery. It is a breath taking site and is the only
picture that is a thumbnail picture. The second
Picture gives a view from the front. In the middle is the
door to the hallway around the main floor. The next picture
is the statue that is just to the right of that door and if
you look real close. You'll see the nose is real shinny. The
kids that were rubbing the noise, told me it brings good
luck. I rubbed the noise too

When the funeral train arrived in
Springfield Illinois more than two weeks after he was shot
by John Wilks Booth. The town fathers wanted to intern
Lincoln in the town square. Mary Todd would no hear of that
and insisted that he have a proper place and setting. This
place was selected in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. It has been
refaced several times in the last 139 years |
