is the Courthouse in Charleston, Illinois.
Abraham Lincoln practiced law in a Court House that sat on
this same site. It was a part of the 8th Circuit court.

The
Cabin on the left is sometimes called a saddle
bag cabin. With the fireplace in the center. The
small building on the right could have been a
smoke house.

This barn below was moved here to show the
workmanship of the period. The bottom of this
structure was made by men who used one method of
notching logs. A second crew used another method
and then a third used a different way to notch
logs to finish |

The Picture at the left is a double
exposure taken by Living Historian Ralph
Borror in 1998. The grave markers at
right were placed on the graves a few
years ago. The old stones were moved to
the back of the cemetery because they
were weathered |

Abe's
step mother lived the last years of her life in
this house with her daughter. President elect
Lincoln came to visit her for the last time in
January 31 of 1861. Abe and Mary returned to
Springfield that night. Abe left for Washington
the next day. |
